All of us have gone through times when the world has got you down and you are having a terrible, horrible, no-good, bad day. You are too tired to think straight, you’re in a big hurry, and you’re mad at everybody….
I have you been there this last week! What about you? Did you get to the point that you actually prayed that prayer? It seems to me that our culture is based on individualism and self-sufficienty (which both have there place) but sadly it’s killing us! We struggle through life, weighed down, feeling depressed, tired, impatient and angry and think that maybe if we just work longer and harder it will be ok…BUT… it’s NOT!
We are experts at the blame game, we are quick to show why everybody else is responsible, yet in our sainer moments we know that the real problem starts deep inside us. Maybe we need a different approach. How about we START by asking God for help, rather than using prayer as a last resort! Only then will we be able to realistically reassess our lifestyle. If the world is getting you down, if you are feeling weary, depressed, too tired to pray, ticked off, angry and discouraged, then here is a four letter word God would love to hear, HELP!
That is a great place to start, but don’t leave it there, the next part of your assignment is to swallow your pride and ask someone to help you today. I recently came across a quote from Dale Carnegie which says:
Inaction breeds doubt and fear.
Action breeds confidence and courage.
If you want to conquer fear, do not sit at home and think about it.
Go out and get busy.
