As we draw towards the end of the year this is a great time to reassess who you are and where you are at. I don’t know what your challenges have been this year, maybe you have grappled with relationship issues, frustrations at work, difficult children, grief and loss… or just boredom with life! Maybe you are angry because you didn’t get the promotion you felt you deserved or the posting you wanted. Hopefully, you can also look back on some positives as well, the new relationships formed, the birth and growth of a child (or grandchild), the opportunities to grow and develop, learning new skills and being rewarded with new responsibilities.
Yes, some of those things are beyond our control, but many are also the result of our choices. What are you going to do with 2013? Are you going to keep blaming others for the mess you are in or take responsibility for your future? I think it was Mahatma Gandhi who once said:
“Be the change you wish to see in the world!”
You have the power to make a difference, to be a positive influence in a negative world! Whatever you do, do it with passion! Get enthusiastic about your life and the possibilities for the future. This might not have been your first choice in posting, this may not have been the job you really wanted, your primary relationships may not be what they could be, but you can choose to change that if you give it all you’ve got! If you recognize that you have been coasting, now is the time to determine to live your life with boldness, courage and conviction!
I hope you have enjoyed sharing the journey with me this year through Padre’s Ponderings. Maybe you have learnt something, or pondered some new viewpoints or even heard God speak! You might still be grappling with how to change your world, or who you want to become in 2013. I am too! But I was encouraged when I read the following:
Trust God from the bottom of your heart:
Don’t try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen to God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;
He’s the one who will keep you on track.”
(Proverbs 3:5-6 The Message)
Pondering is just the beginning, to bring change you have to do something!
